Does anyone have a tip to prevent warping with pine planks? These mini-beds are only a few days old.Stop warping in pine planks Warpin11

Unfortunately, Doug, it would be nearly impossible to stop that warping without having put heavy supports inside the corners.  Adding 4"x4" uprights in the corners and securing the outside boards to them will keep them in place, like this:

And, be sure good quality patio screws, not nails, similar to these screws:

Some of my 2"x8" lumber does the same thing and they are secured with long deck screws.  While it bugs me, it doesn't seem to make a difference with growing.

First, stop using raw Pine. Cedar.
Second use a sealer like linseed oil.

Stop warping in pine planks Empty PVC Boards

Post  toledobend Mon Jan 22, 2024 1:53 pm

It's been a while since I built a new bed, but for my 4x4 beds I used 1x7" PVC boards from Lowe's. It never rots, I don't think there is anything toxic (it's pvc). And for a 4x4 bed, it's strong enough to not bend too much without bracing

Stop warping in pine planks Empty corner block

Post  MrBooker Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:28 am

Has anyone had any luck using these corner blocks?  I bought 4 of them and new boards to rebuild one of my 4 x 8 beds.

Yes, Yolos  Sad  used them for a flower bed.

Using rebar in the center holes can help keep them together or aligned.
