No "genius" ideas here, just some suggestions to consider; I rely on what I have one hand whenever possible - doesn't give much uniformity, but is effective.Squirrel deterrents 100_6610

Gutter guard, the squirrels aren't eating, they are just foraging - simple barrier that they choose not to work around.

Chicken wire; got to love chicken wire.

Hardware cloth; good use of otherwise useless scraps.

The simplest, and proving quite effective:

Four pack of mousetraps at Biglots $1.50.  Doesn't injure them, and haven't lost one yet, but scares the fluff off of them!

An alternative with chicken wire if you're just protecting the "digs".

Combination of scraps for a lift off cover on seedlings.

And for the permanent beds, a hinged cover of PVC/PEX and chicken wire; can also throw burlap over it for sun protection or to buffer rain pelleting, or with Visqueen (painter's plastic drop cloth) for greenhousing.

Squirrel deterrents Empty I love this idea. How do you connect the cross pipe on the top? Kathy

Just Zip Ties.  The frame is 3/4" PVC, drilled holes in it to receive the 1/2" PEX arches, bridged it with 3/4" PVC Zip-Tied to the arches.  The chicken wire is Zip-Tied to the whole caboodle and helps reinforce it all.  Jon
