Garden pea in stasis??

Most of my garden has been direct-seeded, and all of it has been slow to sprout. I attribute this to our wacky, cold cold spring and also my SFGs are on the north side of the house (no choice).

But my peas absolutely baffle me. I have exactly ONE sprout so far, and though it has a few tiny leaves and tendrils, it appears to be in stasis. I thought peas were cold weather crops! I had expected it to be beating out everything except the radishes, but at this rate, my cucumbers may yet beat it to 5" tall.

I've dug a bit and have seen some action underground, but it just seems very odd. The one pea plant does appear to be healthy, to my newbie eyes....just tiny. It is a Lincoln garden pea.

Any ideas? :?:

If you've dug down a little and see action underground the I'd just be patient. They'll most likely grow when they get good and ready. I had a similar problem with my spinach this year but it eventually came up.

They must have heard me.... pea #2 showed up, as well as my watermelon! flower
