Chickens and Composting Empty Chickens and Composting

Post  chickenlittle on 4/23/2018, 9:17 am

Hey all,

Just a quick question. I usually get meat chickens and turkeys a few times a year in the warmer months and was wondering how many of you use chickens to help turn your compost. I saw a great article about it from a composting company in VT who does this but wondered if anyone else has tried it and how it worked for them.

We have free range chickens and an open compost pile. Our chickens do a great job of turning the compost heap. We also have a rabbit who does his part.  Cool
