It's been raining a little too much here and while my SFG seems to be holding up well enough, my container plants are having a tough time. My sweet peppers have dark brown spots on some of the leaves (which I am reading is likely fungus related) and my eggplant leaves seem to be having some leaf trouble also. The soil just isn't getting an opportunity to dry out.

Mostly I'm just venting, it's not all bad. My seed started marigolds are about to bloom, and my butterhead lettuce looks scrumptious. Just wanted to know if anyone else is having similar moisture challenges this spring. Here's to more sunny in the coming days!

Hi Fiz. Somewhere I think I missed you when you joined us.... My apologies! And welcome from Atlanta, GA!

Yes, we're also getting a lot of rain down here. And the weather folks are saying that it's going to continue for at least a couple more weeks.

Hi Marie, thanks for the warm welcome! Better late than never! :-) I love Atlanta, been down there a few times when my sister was down there for school a few years back. I used to tell people here at home that the air was dewy sweet there, haha.

Yeah, it seems the whole Eastern side of North America is getting soaked this spring. There's been a lot of flooding in Montreal and some local flooding here in Toronto. They had to shut down Toronto island, a tourist area, until the end of June because it got so flooded that carp are actually swimming in what used to be a baseball diamond.

Fortunately my raised bed and containers are on a terrace above my garage so it isn't all bad. Just tryIng to ride it out!

Yep, just south of Atlanta and getting rain every day.  My tomato plants and cucumbers are starting to get diseased earlier than normal.  Just a little rain each day but it is enough to keep me from spraying them for fungus related issues.

In my neck of the woods (ok prairie) we have been having the opposite.  I don't think it's rained more than 3 or 4 days in 6 weeks.  And even then, a 15 minute shower for most of those days. Think we had one thunderstorm where it rained decent.  Everything is so dry we aren't even allowed to have campfires right now for fear of a wildfire.

But as far as gardening goes, it's easy enough to add water, much more difficult to take it away.... so I won't complain too much.

We are under another severe thunderstorm watch today and 70% chance of rain. Right now it's beautiful and sunny.  In the forecast there is a 30% to 60% chance of rain every day except one over the next 7 days. Maybe instead of building a new SFG bed I should be building an ark.

Now is the time to try hydroponics, TD.

You are funny Kelejan.

On the reality side of things, I guess I could start up my Aerogarden.

We have finally had two or three consecutive days without rain and my soil is now happy again. Sunday will be a soggy one but today was beautiful and tomorrow will be even better. Now I will actually welcome the rain instead of dreading it! And so will my carrots, haha.
