For green onions, I plant 16 to a square, planted more deeply (around 2 inches).  They get harvested starting about 6 weeks after planting, once the stalks are tall and still green and luscious.
I tried for green bunching onions last year.  Had crappy germination.  Can you get green onion starts?
I apparently hadn't had my morning coffee when I read this before. Now I understand the question. You can also grow green onions from onion sets. To get green onions from them, just plant them about 2 inches deep, and harvest them sooner.

The first of my lettuce started coming up today. This year - back by popular demand - Black Seeded Simpson and Buttercrunch, and also trying a couple of new ones: Red Sea (from Renee's Garden) and Red Sail.

Also decided to try some broccoli this year for the first time. Forgot which kind, but it sprouts and grows as fast as the kale, which is fast! The Red Express cabbage is taking forever to sprout, as usual. Don't know why it's called "express". thinking
