My Old Deck wood SFG (Table Top Style)
Well here is my last two Months work. Tore apart my old Cedar Deck and re-purposed the wood. Put it where we used to have the kids playground, a large gravel area. Had room for 8 4' x 8' waist level boxes. Just finished drip Irrigation system. Here are some pictures.

Terry that is amazing. Beautifully done. I found it to be hard work building one 2x4 table top so I can appreciate the amount of dedicated effort that went into building so many TTs and with re-purposed wood. You really have created a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing with us.

Re: My Old Deck wood SFG (Table Top Style)
Here are some pictures at various stages of production.
First layer of box. Plywood on bottom is only a working surface.
Second level
Picture of box all put together and bottom installed. 5 2"x6"'s run across the bottom of the box then I installed wire mesh, then I plastic lined the entire box. hope that was not a mistake, wanted to help prevent wood rot. poked a bunch of drain holes through plastic before adding dirt.
Six boxes done at this point you can see the lumber pile.
Lumber. I precut all the box parts and then started building.
The First box built with liner installed and ready for Mels Mix.
The wood pile with five boxes left to build.

Very, very nice! Are the 4 corner legs solid 4" x 4" or 6" x 6"? It looks like the mid side legs are 2 pieces, short and tall, fastened together. ??
Re: My Old Deck wood SFG (Table Top Style)
:wow1:Those are amazing looking. I'm a newbie at building stuff, so I'm just floored at seeing a pile of wood turn into such neatly-built, matching complicated (i.e. way more than just 4 pieces of wood) boxes...

Re: My Old Deck wood SFG (Table Top Style)
Some are 6" x 6" that were the railing posts on the deck. When I ran out of those I used two 2" x 6"s nailed together. as a matter of fact, the only lumber I had to buy to finish the project where 5 2" x 6" x 8' pieces to finish the legs on the last two boxes. If I could have waited I would have had enough lumber from the rest of deck deconstruction but would have had to rip some 2" x 10"s down that had some rot on the edges. was in a time crunch to get the beds done for planting. I am planning on making a work bench at the end of my boxes. I have room to add 2 more boxes if I really wanted....maybe next year.sanderson wrote:Very, very nice!
