Need suggestions for stronger trellice stringing material

I'm looking for suggestions of what I can use to "string" my trellis frames.  For the past few years I've made a simple grid, first using jute which broke if you looked at it wrong, then out of sisal which held up better, but failed when we get the inevitable hard rainstorm late in the season (just in time to ruin 6-foot tall tomato plants!).

I need to find something which is going to hold up.  I thought about nylon string but it frays so bad at ever cut (and I don't want to try and melt EVERY SINGLE cut I make).

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.   Here is what things looked like at the start of last year (with the sisal).

Honestly, the trellis netting I've purchased from the SFG Foundation is very strong, and it has held up for years in my two gardens.  One was in Southern California, the current one in Central Oregon.  We get rain, snow, hail, high winds, as well as hot and cold weather.

Yup, the netting that Mel shows in the books works fine and mine is 5 yrs old now.  It's usually called tomato netting or some such.  I buy mine at the garden nurseries or Home Depot.  I've also used twine but take it down at year end.

Cattle panel for sure.  I use the packaged nylon (?) trellis from Home Depot or eBay, secured with zip ties.  Strong enough after 3 years to take the weight of winter butternut squash and cantaloupes.

I use cut up lengths of stock fencing /pig pen wire / game fencing

At the top edge the grid squares are  6 inches long by 6 inches high  , 3 foot down at the  bottom of the fencing wire the grids are 2 inches high by 6 inches wide

The beauty of it is that it can be made to be self-supporting in a zigzag , used as a straight panel or one on top of the other strung between two stakes using re-useable zip ties or made into a circular tower for bush tomatoes & peas.

The stuff I have is galvanized and is about nine years old ,  I leave the dead plants on it to dry them out till spring as they then break off easier  or they can be power washed away in seconds .

Due to the hinging aspect of the links I can fold it in 1/3 rds  and lay them behind the shed over winter  till I need them again .

I have actual metal trellis that I use left over from regular garden. I love metal. It is....well......metal. Yeah.

I made this using 14 ga galvanized wire. Easy to handle and very sturdy.

How about tomato twine used in greenhouses?  It is polypropylene and really tough.  I see it used with the clips a lot.  I have seen it holding vines that are 12' high and loaded with fruit.

I too use the nylon trellis netting sold on squarefootgardening.com.

It's lasted several years now and holds something like 150 lbs per linear foot.

Thanks all for the suggestions. Since the wood framework is getting replaced in the near future we grabbed Vesseys plastic tomato netting for this year. Looks like it will work out in the short term at least.
