Time to go home and start plants Empty Time to go home and start plants

Time to go back home and get my peppers started. Been nice and warm with a record high of 91 degrees last week but in low 80's this week. Hope my garlic survived without any watering but we will soon see. I got to thinking that I only cleaned up and recharged half of my beds so I will have a lot of cleaning up to do.
Snowbirding has been great but unfortunately we bought to much stuff and we don't have room enough in the mini-van. You can guess what stuff is left behind and what stuff is packed( as if I had any say anyway). I got this little tip on facebook about a month ago and wondered if anyone else has done it:
1 teaspoon Epsom salt in 4 cups warm water.
spray on plants and again in 10 days. Produces more fruit due to boost of magnesium. Works best on peppers, tomatoes and roses.
I am going to try it this year with half my peppers and tom's and see if there is any difference.

I saw that same tip, John. I'm planning on trying it this year!

Safe travels...

I sprinkled Epsom salts, worm castings and an aspirin into the planting holes of my tomatoes last year. The cherries did fantastic! The large fruited heirlooms were just so-so.

Did the same with the peppers sans the aspirin. The hot peppers were great, the Lunchbox & Bulls Horn peppers not so much - about one pepper per plant - worse than without the Epsom salts and worm castings.

Got home sunday afternoon, house looks pretty good. Tumbleweeds on the fences about 4 ft. deep. The garlic and shallots all green, sticking out above the straw. Watered them first. Went out today and got four kinds of compost and cleaned out one bed. Going to the Dr. Wednesday to start the process for my next operation. Got a hernia in Jan. and continued to play picklebaall, do cardio and hike until mid Feb. when it became stupid to continue ( maybe it was stupid to continue). It is the same one I had in the early 80's that was operated on. The new one is much larger so I guess I should be more careful.

Ouch! The surgery should put the spring back in your step, right? Glad your garden is well and alive.

Thanks all I have a lot planned for this summer so I need to get it over with. We were discussing the return trip last night and how it was fairly easy and we seemed to have returned with everything we planned for. I even remembered the rare seeds I bought. Then I remembered the humming bird feeder still outside. No big deal right, but I thought some more. I then realized that I turned off the water to the house but did not turn off our other water heater and then remembered I did not see my camera either. Then my wife asked me where the pills were for our pets. I remember seeing them on the counter. Looking like our first relocation move has hit a few snags. Shocked I did however remember the Easter presents we bought for the grandkids so I'm still ahead. Laughing
