New SFGardener in Wisconsin
Hello from South Central Wisconsin!
I first heard about SFG at an organic gardening workshop in March and have been reading The All New SFG book and cookbook.
We have two 3 ft X 10 ft boxes built and I'm assembling my ingredients for a big pile o' Mel's Mix. Can't wait to get it mixed and fill the boxes! Sunday may be my first opportunity, if everything goes as planned.
Our previous vegetable gardens have been only marginally successful due to poor soil and admittedly lackadaisical tending. I'm looking forward to better success this year!

Re: New SFGardener in Wisconsin
Welcome, Mag
I am also a first time SFG'er....and so far so good.
Are you expecting snow tonight?!? We could get some....ugh. My cool-weather crops are safe and snug under their plastic cover - so we'll see.
Good luck and have fun this weekend. Hope to see pictures.

Re: New SFGardener in Wisconsin
Thanks, new2this! I don't think we are going to get snow this far south, but Green Bay could get several inches, I heard.
I just hope it's not raining or windy on Sunday so I can stir up my huge batch of Mel's Mix and get it into the beds!
Have a good weekend!

Re: New SFGardener in Wisconsin
Hello, milaneyjane! I was thinking the same thing, that it may be a blessing that we are just getting our beds assembled now.
I have several flats of perennials and annuals purchased that I moved into the garage tonight as we have a freeze warning for tomorrow night, and I didn't want to take any chances tonight, either.
Funny thing, it's cold now, but it will suddenly be 90 degrees and humid with mosquitoes and we will wonder what hit us.
