Newport, NC Introduction
Retired Marine on the Coast of North Carolina. Vegetable Gardening keeps me out of trouble. Still work full time as an Aircraft Mech for the Federal Govt. After Retirement spent 13 years in Upstate NY (hometown) and decided that the warmer weather and better Employment (less taxes) in North Carolina suited us better. Have a lot smaller back yard now so have been starting Raised beds. Have (3) 4 x 8's and (1) 3 x 7. (1) 4 x 4. Also have (5) 5gal containers. My wife says it's too much because the family is grown up and gone. I still like to try different varieties every year. My Co workers and neighbors who do not garden, do not seem to mind. I plan on getting more into canning this year. I grow mostly Tomatos, Cucumber, Summer Squash, Eggplant, and Peppers. Have pretty much gone to Heirlooms because I want to save seeds to share. I hope this was not too much information to start.

Bridge, Welcome to the Forum from California! You gave a wonderful introduction, members can understand your gardening passion. I'm not sure one can have too many beds.
Re: Newport, NC Introduction
Welcome RBridge, it's good to not only have someone else on the NC coast, but also another "Northern Ambassador in the Conquered Territory" aka Yankee.
I am a new gardener and still have lots of questions myself but everyone here has been super helpful and nice so far.

Re: Newport, NC Introduction
I can claim him for the Lower South. The entire coast of NC falls in Lower South according to the map. So Welcome RBridge. I'm moving from the northern edge of NC coast to the southern in Wilmington. I have a cousin who lives in Bogue.AtlantaMarie wrote:Hi RBridge! Welcome to the forum. And THANK YOU for your service to our country.
