black skin on peppers

black skin on peppers
My peppers are doing well and I am trying to wait until they turn red. I noticed yesterday that one of them is developing a black skin towards the bottom of the pepper. Any ideas on what this is and how to cure it so I can wait for the reds?

A thought? Blossom end rot?? At least this is what I saw on tomatoes.
Could you take a photo? Might help someone else to ID your problem.

They get black if the peppers touch the ground.

When the temps were uneven I saw black smudge and streaks particularly on sweet banana pepp. When those increased in warmer stable temperatures the blackness lightened up and/or disappeared.
Maybe it's weather related in your case too. Also in my case they did not touch the ground.

If the black is clearly a diseased lesion, it could be a number of things, including fungus or perhaps under watering.
Please post a photo.

The pepper looks perfectly healthy to me - no disease.
