Sanderson, I like the look of your more angular frames as I think it must be easier to attach the plastic film.  I know it is more expensive using the connections but in the long run it will probably save time when attaching covers and using them.
I have just done my first 4x4 with two curved arches and three straight crossbars and I find I really don't like the curves.

Thank you. The one thing I did not want to deal with in the raised beds is a horizontal bar that I would have to either bend over (creak!) or reach under (boink!). They are easy to open and close.

The hardest thing about my gable style was getting the lengths of the rafters (sloped pieces) correct. Thank goodness all but one are 2 feet (I.D.) deep. I saved the dimensions in my journal so I won't have to reinvent the wheel If I ever get another bed. rofl

Looking ahead towards Fall/Winter - Page 3 Empty Time to clean out the garden plots

Post  Judy McConnell 11/17/2014, 11:01 am

The frosts of the past week have been enough to turn all the garden leaves to that "sick green" that they get when frozen == my season is officially OVER.   Did bring in a couple of pepper plants to see if I could get them to overwinter in a sunny window(the plants seem to be forming leaves).

Garlic will go into one of the beds along with flower bulbs.  Bad me! Didn't get the new spring flower bed made yet - so need to stick the various bulbs (with labels) into current beds.  Garlic and strawberry beds seem to be the best sites (hope that there is enough room for all of them).

Kale looks good but is in a tt - will it freeze solid this winter?  Time will tell.
