raised bed netting done
If the storms do not blow this away I will keep it covered all summer.
Top is stationary, will allow rain and (diffused sun in), pests stay out.
A few have entered, however all they want to do is get out.
Sides may be raised and lowered as needed, no pollination needed in this bed..
A mix of material is used to find the most suitable,

That's great Jimmy. I like it. Keeping the pests out is a high priority to have good harvests.

Looks top notch! I'm already getting bugs chomping holes in my brussels sprouts, so I guess I need to think about putting some covers back on them. They've outgrown my hoops though, so I guess I need to cut some bigger hoops. You look very well prepared for bug season.

Hi Jimmy ,
That looks good & very interesting & something I want to aim for , as I have 24 by four yards of some 10 yr warranted UV stabilized fairly hard white nylon type material in a 1/20 th mesh .
What did you use for the thin hoop tubes .. plastic type water pipe , rigid polythene electrical conduit or some other stuff ?
Are the transverse / cross running bars bolted/screwed to the hoops ?
I can see that it looks like the hoops are slid down into some kitchen waste drain pipe,is that what you did & used ?

1/2" pvc, 10 foot lengths, I used the full piece and inserted into a 1" piece hammered into the ground over a piece of 1/2" tubing. hammered about 2 feet down.
I put the tubing there because I didn't want the 1" to kick out since everything was on the outside.

I first positioned them with wire ties to see how I like it, then when I was satisfied I bolted the pieces together with 10/24 brass screws.
After setting up the screening I used the 1/2" pieces of foam insulation to secure the screen to the pvc, then I tied the foam to the pvc with cord..
I'll find out how good it works when we get our first real thunderstorm..
