The SFG book suggests keeping a bucket of sun-warmed rainwater outside near the garden for watering. How do you keep mosquito larvae from it?

That's the way to go, pick a bucket size you know you're gonna use up everyday!

Also, if you are on city water you'll want to leave your water sitting in the bucket for 24hrs without a lid so the chlorine evaporates from it.

My dad uses one of those blue 45 gall drums ( he has a big conventionnal garden), last few summers he started putting a fine screen over the top of it secured with a bunjy cord...lets the rain in, the chlorine out and no mosquitoes are able to go in.

Nope, he just dips a container in it to draw water and empties it in the fall...He will put a running water hose in it for sometime every now and then to stir it up and prevent algae from building up
