Pure raw linseed oil. Don't know if it does any good because the beds are only 2 years old.

If you use the boiled linseed oil I suggest painting it on the lumber before construction and do all sides and the ends.blackcat54 wrote:Mel mentions Linseed Oil as a wood sealer.

I read that the boiled linseed oil has toxic drying agents added to it. Raw linseed oil omits the additives.
There is a formula on the net that calls for paraffin, turpentine, and linseed oil. I like the sound of that.

You could go for a food grade linseed oil and wax mix.

That's about all the info I can give as I simply don't use treated wood. Simple untreated pine lasts about 5 years in my neck of the woods.

Re: Eco-Friendly Wood Preservative
I don't use anything on my different kinds of one and two yr old lumber.
Five of my boxes are made of kitchen cupboards turned onto their backs. I used to know what they are made of but can't remember. All I know is that they've served me well and are beginning to come apart after 2 yrs. I may get one more year out of them.

BC, Turpentine? Think food grade stuff if you want to coat your boxes. Raw linseed oil and beeswax sounds okay. But maybe hold back the turpentine!
