Expanding the ideas of using PVC clamps and couplings
Sanderson, after seeing your new green house, I thought this may help others. This is a wonderful site. I hope it helps in new ideas that will benefit our community.

Great link! this is one of the great things I love about our forum. We are all looking out for better ways of doing things and (more importantly) we share what we find with other for everyone's benefit. Great job guys! Alan

strengthening snap clamps with grip clamps
I love snap clamps. I use them everywhere. This is great for greenhouses , low or high. I have some pictures with grip clamps using a screw to secure them This tear I testing the swings, since I already secured the base with snap clamps and screws. Circo has made a video explaining how it works. That have a PVC version of the tool necessary to make a swing door out of PVC, but I don't know the endurance factor using a moveable plastic part in the winter. With metal, no big deal. the PVC pipes on the base is filled with gravel. The wind can't blow it off.

I don't use the winter covering for the low hoop house since I have a large portable walk thru greenhouse now. But the method I used for the low hoophouse work quite well. The passive vents prevented me from having to rush outside to open the hoophouse to prevent overheating. It took a lot of pressure off of me, esp if I miscalculated the temperature of the day and it became to hot in the hoophouse. This experiment allowed me to transfer it to the large greenhouse. Now I don't run out there anymore to open it. I have 4 vents in the large greenhouse.

That is awesome. I need to put something up on mine to cover them and extend the season...I have thought about covering the entire thing but I'd have to get approval from the DW.
That would mean I'd have to get the request "*signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again and finally buried in Mel's Mix for 3 months and recycled as firelighters."
*Vogon bureaucratic process from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Lotta great ideas, there! I, too, am a big fan of PVC pipe and snap clamps. I've built lots of useful stuff with it. I wonder if the people who make it had any idea we'd start using it to build green houses? Garden bed cages? Or furniture? Or fishing rod holders?
