Today, Tuesday, Oct. 29th,  at 3pm EDT Ball Canning is showing a live demonstration how to use a pressure canner.  You should be able to google ball canning and get to it from the home page site.

or, this should work:

I finally got back to the video transmission once it had been sorted out .

I had hoped that we could have had an overhead shot looking down into the canner.
Say with cold water & the jars being placed in it , just so we could see how the jars were put in on top of the trivet/ spacer screen & arranged .

I mean ..... everything else was so dumbed down I'd have expected them to show this essential safety information.

From what I've gathered and what my mum used to do in the 1950's the jars should not touch the sides , bottoms or the lids of the pressure canner, as the excessive heat transmission via the canner metals into the glass often results in causing the jars to crack .
I'm also led to understand that the jars should not touch each other for reasons of expansion of the glass & vibrations from gasses released out of the boiling water as well as the heat transfer problem.

Can any of you regular canners comment on what I've just put please ?

I'm going to start a thread titled " Weck jars " perhaps you'd also look in on that in a couple of hours and help keep me on the straight and narrow wrt canning please. .
