OCTOBER 2013 avatar
OK guys & gals what will we have for the October avatar ?
I have some real nice butternut squashes turning golden
most of the remaining tomato plants in the glasshouse have golden leaves and delicious fruits.
So I offer " Golden October in the garden " in all it's various guises .

Great idea David. Unfortunately I don't have anything golden in my garden to share this year. But I will join in by using a golden pic to wish y'all a happy fall! Can't wait to see everyone's golden harvests!!!

Re: OCTOBER 2013 avatar
Great Idea! I can choose between a Dakota Gold tomato (if it warms up enough for a few more to ripen) or use a pic of the lonely, forgotten cuke!

We have the same delightful problem with all the flowers in MM beds , some of the gladioli reached a shade under 5 feet tall this year .southern gardener wrote:couldn't find golden, so yellow will have to do for now These marigolds are about 3' high! Supposed to only grow to 18"

your glads sounds beautiful plantoid! My flowers were not in MM, however, they were in my infamous, "pig manure" garden

Folks. just go ahead and change up your avatar, if you like, at any time.
Or not.

Re: OCTOBER 2013 avatar
All I have in gold for veggies is this last butternut squash climbing up the rhododendron hedge:
Once my corn is finished I'll post a photo of that instead, worms and all.

My marigolds did the same thing! They weren't in MM but they turned into big bushes.southern gardener wrote:couldn't find golden, so yellow will have to do for now These marigolds are about 3' high! Supposed to only grow to 18"
