Wonder if you could purposely grow lettuce and other shade plants under there...?

Oh darn!! Our puppy pulled the wire top off of our beds in hot pursuit of a cabbage moth. He tromped all through the beets and shredded the shade cloth. I don't know if he even got the moth. He LOVES chasing them, but isn't very careful about watching where he's going. We just doubled the heights of our boxes, and had hoped that would deter him, but not yet Sad Sorry about your garden Wink

It must be July

Picked a few things to give to my mom, tossed in a head of garlic and ran them over to her. She complained about the price of hamburger and asked if I wanted to take her to the farmers market.

Debs..... going shooting

Beautiful Debs, that photograph could be on the cover of a seed catalog.  Shooting huh?  I enjoyed that last time I went, but it's been years.  My brother is moving down from Alaska end of this month and sold his guns along with all his other belongings.  Maybe he can take me out with my hubby's gun.

Picked my first tomato today and it's in the fridge getting cold for the lettuce wrap I'm planning for lunch.  I have several spaghetti squash growing, a couple of sugar baby watermelons, one mini pumpkin, I think one of the cucumbers was pollinated and is growing, and the dragons tongue beans have started flowering.  Fall carrots have sprouted, my succession planted broccoli box is all filled up.  I'm out of space and want to plant peas, kale, and lettuces and spinach.  Also out of time to do anything about it.

Nice to get the sunny mornings back.  Stay cool everyone! PNW: July 2013 - Page 5 Beach10

My boy's bought me a little 9mm for mother's day and Ray got me a membership at a range close to the house. They are all so well armed that I really didn't need my own, but I am lucky enough that they want to include me in the things they do. Getting me ready for moving back to the country.... raccoons that eat ducks and chickens, crows that steal corn. Don't know that I would want to eat crow or raccoon ...so I'm not sure what the point would be.

My Dragon's tongue are sizing up too but no bloom yet. Have you grown them before? Unlike most beans, the bigger and yellower they get the sweeter they are. I thought they would be like tender snap beans but I came back from a camping trip and discovered a bunch of big yellow roma looking beans that were o' so tasty. Guess what they look like when they are ready.....
Spoiler:

Debs..... raised by a man that required us to eat anything we shot. Never had to eat a rattlesnake though, I guess they are the exception to the rule.

Debs,

I'm glad your boys think so highly of you!

I haven't been hunting since I was a kid. Dad would take my brother and me deer hunting, and we made so much noise that he never did get one in his sights.

lol! Sounds like a patient, loving man Donna.... like my dad and uncles.... like my husband. My youngest loved dressing in camo, painting his face and running from rock to tree-trunk with a uzi shaped stick (bow hunting, go figure), rolling for cover while rat-a-tatting at the enemy. He was known to occasionally be very quiet.... except for the ripping of the mini candy bar wrappers at inopportune times. At least that is the excuse Ray gave for not bringing home the bull🤣

Debs.... who always brought fresh home grown onions to have with liver (just trying to stay on topic)

104 degrees where I live. The main crop we're growing is heat stroke. I went into a nursery and bought some veronicas, and talked to the lady gardening expert there about lavenders. I had to beg off hearing more because the heat was more than unpleasant. It was starting to get suffocating.

On the plus side, I got very cheap mulch -- 12 cubic feet for 9 bucks. It will fill in some gaps in the soil enough for me to plant over, and do it a lot more cheaply than compost or top soil etc. Carrying it out back in the heat was no fun, but I was just so happy to be home with air conditioning just a few steps away ...
