I'm new to gardening - my grandmother could grow anything - never really took an interest - shame on me.  I'm trying my hand at container gardening because we have a lab that digs where ever I dig.  I have 4 containers of tomatoes, 3 of strawberries, 2 of mint varieties, and some rosemary.  Just trying to learn what I can to determine what I can grow, when to plant, etc.  haven't gotten very much out of my garden this year - maybe started too late.

Hard for a dog to dig in a tabletop bed. Do a search and get some ideas.

Hello from a newbie Empty Hi Lorrie

Hi, I just joined this forum also. I'm new to gardening in zone 9. Originally I'm from michigan and growing down here is so different. I'm in La Marque. I'm also going to try SFG for the first time this fall. When I was in michigan and just starting to garden, I learned a lot just from trial and error. I have no doubt we will both get the hang of gardening down here.

I have a lab, aussie shepard and a boston terrier. All 3 like to dig. My mom suggested I spray what ever area I want to discourage them from digging in with a mixture of water and tabasco, or cayanne pepper or what ever hot pepper you have. I haven't tried it yet but could work. I know it worked well indoors when I was trying to keep them from chewing furniture and things as puppies.
For me, I'm am just putting up a fence to keep them all out of my growing area... for now.

That's actually what I am doing too. We have a medium size mutt and our two little girls are schnauzer/terrier mix. We are putting up a fence to separate our garden area from the rest of the backyard to keep the dogs out of our garden area. They will have the side of the yard with the large shade tree and the garden will have the side with full sun. We are going to add in some trellis benches and other decorative items so we will have a place that we can sit and enjoy the garden in the fall, winter, and spring...too hot in the summer lol. But we are still doing TT beds..easier than getting down on the ground to tend to everything in the garden, esp the smaller plants.
