First green bean harvest 2013
My gardens have become unbelievable and are out pacing me.
Today we went out and picked our first green beans. These are Burpee Bush Blue Lake and the plants are covered with baby beans and blooms meaning many more to come. I have also been planting more seeds as other crops finish out.
I also found a few ripe cherry tomatoes while I was out there, but they never made it back inside for a photo session

Your green beans look delicious! They are one of my favorites...
I planted Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans and they are finally growing up the trellis here but are only a foot tall. They are worth the wait!

I planted a purple bush bean that we've been harvesting for a couple of weeks and our Kentucky Wonders have just started reaching full size beans.
We were taking care of a little boy while his mommy had a baby and it was such fun to show him the "magic" beans that are purple and turn green when they cook. He was absolutely fascinated, LOL!

Thanks everyone!
The best part of all this is that NO pesticides of any kind were used and not a single bug bite on them or the leaves.

Picture perfect! Congrats on a nice harvest! We are growing some dragon's tongue beans and are absolutely LOVING them! no strings no matter how big they get, and so tender, we don't even "snap" them or take the ends off! Congrats again!!

Beautiful beans. I've been harvesting mine for a couple months. Almost spent. Time for round two.
I have a problem with my Blue Lake getting a little too beany as I can sometimes be a little slow harvesting. My wife likes them tender and young. Any recommendations from people for a bean that'll perform like the blue lakes but provide a thinner more delicate bean?

The dragon's tongues aren't very "beany" so far. We've had a few that got pretty big...you know how they camouflage!! i will be planting these next year for sure...maybe not even do the Blue Lakes...loving not having to snap and de-string!!

Re: First green bean harvest 2013
No matter how big my Dragon's Tongues got, they were still very smooth tasting beans. Definitely not a sharp 'green' taste to them.
