Question about starting seeds
I just put some tomato and pepper seeds in vermiculite, I should keep adding water to the bottom tray until they sprout and are replanted into small pots with MM correct? I used a plastic strawberry container so I put the plastic lid back on also to help keep the moisture in. I just rigged up a grow light too. I should probably put the light rite down close to the lid but I don't know if it is necessary for germination or not, cant hurt rite?

Re: Question about starting seeds
Most seeds (besides lettuce) don't need light to germinate.
I am my gardens worst enemy.

Re: Question about starting seeds
tomatoes sprout faster than peppers. If you dont have a heat mat, top of the fridge works
I would take the top off and use clear plastic.

Re: Question about starting seeds
I don't think I'd keep adding water. Just add water til the vermiculite gets damp, then put the lid on. The verm. will hold the water well, but if you keep adding lots of water, you may rot the seeds before they come up, My tomato seeds germinated in just 3 days, the peppers take a little longer.
