Hello from Maryland
Hi everyone,
This is my second season gardening, and the first was with a 4x4 plot several years ago. I quickly figured that the row suggestions on the seed packets would never work with a plot that size, and made my own suggestions. I ended up with tomatoes and bell peppers too crowded to get big, not nearly enough cilantro for anything, and more jalapaneos than any one person should ever have to face.
This year I have my own house, and my own space, and was able to set up an 8x4 raised bed. Now that I know that SFG is a thing and I've found these resources, I'll probably have much better spaced plants and a better yield. We'll find out in a few months.

KT421!
I'm in Glen Burnie. Have you had the chance to read the All New Square Foot Gardening book? Mel has figured out the spacing for you. Also his Mel's Mix growing medium is perfect when you want to put your veggies as close as possible.
BTW I'm the Mid-Atlantic Regional Host.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Hello from Maryland
OOPS I forgot to tell you how to get to the regional info.
On the Home page, scroll down to the Regional Forum area and click on Mid-Atlantic.
This is where we put region specific information - or just check in with each other monthly to see how our gardens are progressing.

Re: Hello from Maryland
to SFG forum!
I am also in the Mid-Atlantic Region. I never had any luck with gardening until I started the SFG method.
As Kim stated, it is really important to read the All New Square Foot Gardening Book by Mel Bartholomew if you haven't done so.
Best of luck!
