Geminids tonight!
Suppose to be a spectacular meteor shower tonight, not just the remnants of one comet, but for the first time, two, best time to watch 1-4 am Fri, and any time after 10 pm Thursday - Tonight! Bundle up kiddies and give your eyes more than 1/2 hour to adjust.

Re: Geminids tonight!
I saw them! Around 1 AM and it was bloody cold out! But the sky was crystal clear and brilliant with stars.
Also saw the Int'l Space Station fly over once, even tho it's gone over twice in the past week, one which was last nite.

Re: Geminids tonight!
I only lasted Thurs. night from 11:30pm til 1:00am. Blasted cold here too, still got an eyeful. One long tail distinctly looked like a kids giant fireworks sparkler trailing behind. That alone was worth it. Some came in groups of 2's and 3's at a time. The next morning at 6am there were 2 more meteors in less than 5 minutes in the western sky. The sky was defin. alive.

Re: Geminids tonight!
It seems to me that I never, ever, see anything in the sky. Whenever I see reports of meteors, eclipses or whatever, the sky is clouded over. Usually the day before and the day after are clear.
Every year I look out for the various meteor showers, but so far, no luck.
I did see the conjunction of Saturn, Mars and Venus recently, but the sky was clear for weeks at that time and a conjunction like that is a very slow event from our point of view.

Re: Geminids tonight!
So sorry to hear that, but I do understand. We live in the mountains and half the years that we've looked we haven't seen anything and 1/2 have been marvelous. Two nights ago I saw several within just minutes of going out. Last night and tonight it's cloud cover so no luck!Kelejan wrote:It seems to me that I never, ever, see anything in the sky.
