Broccoli question

This fall I planted 25 broccoli plants. Nineteen of them are in my SFG's and 6 are in self-watering containers as an experiment. I have both "Green Goliath" and "Romanesco". All were started from seed and are doing well.

Most of the plants are normal size and have little crowns forming, but one of the Romanesco plants is ENORMOUS. It is two squares in and two squares over from the end of a 4 x 8 SFG and is almost as wide as the bed. The leaves are more than 12" across and there's no indication of a crown yet. The only difference between this plant and the others is that it's closest to my new worm tube.

Is this normal or could the extreme growth be from the worm tube that has only been in for about a month?

I didn't have worm tubes in the bed my Romesco resided in and I too got ginormous plants with very little head .. then one day I noticed a tiny head appearing , two days later it was four inches across .
So trying to be clever I bent the big leaves over the hand to keep it pale in cplour and was planning to harvest it two days later. A family breavement prevented harvesting and on our return home four days later it had broken out into a ragged tree . Cutting the tree out ( composted it ) resulted in even more ragged bits of new heads growing so we cut the leaves and ate them as cabbages over a few days and put the remainder of the plant in the compost bin.

I think that on reflection ... the large size was due to the fact of the beds all being in the first year of quality MM made with loads of different animal manures c/w the beddings ..
This would make for some very high quality growing medium .
This next year will or should start to calm down a tad for the only new quality compost will be a trowel full of composted manures in each square so the quantity of nutrients availabe will be slightly less for each plant .
