Will this kill my worms?
Hello everyone, I hope the approaching fall shows signs of good harvest. I have a 4 X 4 12" deep which I have been having some success growing Cucumbers, eggplant, peppers and a few other hot weather items while it's too hot to grow much else in Florida while I'm waiting on our "real" growing season to start in September.
I just received my worms in the mail today for my vermicompost bins. I have set up 2 35 gallon bins (one in the other for proper drainage) and layered shredded newspaper, peat, some old rotten seaweed and some frozen table scraps I've been saving for them. So it seems they are going to have a good start.
NOW the problem is that Isaac gave us quite a bit of rain and my 25 lb paper bag of bone meal was soaked thru the tarp which was covering it (the tarp must have had holes that were too tiny to see). It is infested with maggots. Will this be ok to give to my worms, maggots and all? I would think that since it's fish bones they would do excellent on it.
My next question is whether this would be ok to still use in the garden. I am not sure how maggots will interact with the other worms and life in the soil or if it getting we has changed it somehow.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any help would be appreciated.
Happy harvest!

I wouldn't put the maggots in with the worms. Bone meal, maggots and all can go right in your garden.
