I think I am going to try something a little different this year.
We can't get the 8.5x6.3 greenhouse put up till it cools down.
I want to try some winter harvest.
I have a 4x4 bed to move. I think I will turn it into a tt. Then when we do the pad for the green house, I can move it in, set it on the ground, and build the greenhouse around it (if hubby doesn't have a fit!). Then I can set up my pop-up greenhouse over it when it is colder! Sounds like it might work! Been reading Eliot Coleman "Four Season Harvest". Still leaves me able to add and additional row cover for MORE protection!
I ordered more seeds, everywhere here either "had turned them back in" or was out of the seeds I wanted. Arugula, Mesclun, Endive, Mizuna, and lettuce "Amish Deer Tongue". Also going to try strawberry spinach.
Have onions and turnips and carrots and some other stuff in a 4x6 hubby is going to put a coldframe on.

That sounds exciting! Let me know if you have any luck with strawberry spinach, I tried it 4 times this year, got it to sprout then killed it... Embarassed

Elliots book is what started my whole cattle panel hoop house plan.
The first year after I read that book we made a hoop house with metal cattle panel fencing and then I created a second layer for additional warmth.Winter Harvest Dsc_0810

Here are the spinach plants. This was at a warmer climate likely zone 8, however sub freezing temperatures and spinach was growing. I have not done this since moving here.

Thanks for the heads up! I won't direct plant it!
I am going to sprout it in vermiculite, then up pot then transplant..just like I do my lettuce.

Hubby says no to putting the greenhouse up around the 4x4 rofl Silly man!
But I thought of a way to get around that! I will plant in tubs! I have half barrals, large planters, and 1/2 blue barrels...I will plant in them and then put them in the greenhouse. Should work good for my experiment!

That is the idea I am going with the double greenhouses lol..
With it being the first year the large greenhouse won't have anything in it. Humm, maybe the pop up greenhouse might be too big. I have to think on it. I can always make a hoop topper out of cage material and cover it. Or just do like they show in the book to just use wires and cover.
