Can anyone help with proper ratio of soil mix?
My book doesn't come for another 2 days and I'm getting soil ingredients tomorrow. I'm going to have a 4'x8' box.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The ratio is 1:1:1
To fill one 4x8 box you will need:
6 cubic feet peat moss
6 cubic feet vermiculite
6 cubic feet 5 type compost mix
Happy Gardening

Thank you kind Boffer! The peat moss comes compressed in a bale, so I'm thinking I will only need 3 cu. ft. because it will expand to double the amount to 6 cu. ft.; this is what I've read.

Re: Can anyone help with proper ratio of soil mix?
Yes, buy "half" the peat moss since it expands. There are several threads on the best ways to mix it all up. Since I'm only one person, I use a 5 gal bucket to measure everything. Just eyeball the compost as I pour a fifth of each in one bucket. Then I dump it all out on a small tarp, use the hoe to mix it up and then shovel it back into the buckets to transport to the garden bed. The time consuming part it fluffing up the peat, but the measuring and mixing takes 5 min.
