Planting seeds outdoors
Since we started our garden late, I'm doing some plants from seeds that the nursery said would work at this time. I combed the SFG book for how to plant seeds outdoors but there's not much on that; it's mostly how to do them indoors. So I want to make sure that what I gleaned from the book is enough to go by. Here's what I got:
• Presoak seeds for 30 minutes.
• Plant 2-3 seeds at 3x the depth of their size in watered soil.
• Water
• Cover with cardboard labeled with sprout date.
• After they sprout, cover with a shade cage for 3 days.
Beans & corn (if I can do corn)
• Sprouts 5-10 days
• Wire cage for 2 wks
Carrots
• Sprouts 2-3 weeks
• cover with plastic cage
• constant moisture till mature
Broccoli - no specific instructions (sprouts in the fall I think)
Scallions - no specific instructions

I would suggest at this point, sow your dry seeds and then water. They should be up in a few days. Don't bother with the cardboard, but do place tags so you will know what you planted when and where. You could try direct seeding of broccoli in the garden, I think they may do OK this year.

In this heat you water them in and there is no holding them back.
Might want to give shade for most heat intense days until they get established.
