Hello from Alaska
Hello from North Pole AK, I am new to SFG but not gardening in Alaska. I live in the town of North Pole, I am a disabled full time grandma, I work outside the home 6 hours a week, and besides gardening, I do beadwork and am learning to make fireworked beads. I will post some pictures of our garden soon hopefully.

Re: Hello from Alaska
Glad to see you here. I cannot imagine the challenges with gardening in Alaska. Should be interesting. I assume you have read or are reading the All new SFG book because that is your bible. Looking forward to pictures.
Re: Hello from Alaska
Hi there
My DH used to work up in Inuvik and talks about the land of the midnite sun.
My experience up in Dawson creek (mile zero of the ALaska highway) was that a lot of stuff grew very fast in a short period of time
I am looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Re: Hello from Alaska
tananarose to the forum. I spent a year in King Salmon AFS near the top of the Aleutian peninsula. I can't imagine gardening where I was, 56 was the high that year. Good luck with all you endeavor to do.

Re: Hello from Alaska
Welcome! Would love to see your pictures. The plants must be growing fast and furious in sunlight that doesn't set.
The midnight sun was an amazing experience in 1997. I was in Anchorage doing a marathon.

Re: Hello from Alaska
Thanks for all the welcomes.
I am anxious for the warmer weather, we have been having alot of rain, although my dad says it has been warmer here than in Hillsboro Or.
We are about to start losing the daylight again this week, but will still have long hours of daylight till about the end of July.
I have some pictures that I need to upload of when we planted the garden, I am hoping to get some more pictures of the progress here soon. I did have a wall-o-water around my tomatos but two of them fell over, I think I found out why this morning, there is a cat that has been visiting the garden.
So far the best growing plants are my nasturiums and onions. I don't have cabbage planted, I can't use it, but next year I might plant some and then take to the local food bank when time to harvest.
