Help with spinach problem; disease or overwatering?

Just posting this for a friend, since she's having this (non-SFG specific) problem with her spinach and I'm unable to figure it out.

Any ideas what might be going on? Is the below a disease or just plain old over-watering (thanks to several days of constant rain her in the NYC area).

Our efforts up to this point have been inconclusive as we can't pinpoint it to a specific disease based on what we've on the the Web. I figured someone here might be able to offer some info..

I should mention that she said the leaves with the discoloration feel like they have some liquid in them.

Looks like overwatering and sunscald to me. Anybody else got any ideas.

I think she needs some nitrogen.
Pee, watered down to 20:1 with water will get her spinach taking off.
I think spinach likes to grow like crazy and when left to dawdle along it has little bits that touch other little bits...
Some sun and some nitrogen and it will TAKE off.

Thanks for the tip, but if she needs nitrogen I think I'll give her a little blood meal or worm castings (or suggest coffee grounds) rather than using pee. No offense or anything..

Guano is another GREAT source of nitrogen
Mother Earth News last month commissioned someone to compare several liquid fertilizers and urine won. (watered down 20 x)

No offence taken, its just cheap.

That's certainly interesting... One of my main concerns with that would be that folks ingest (and thus expel, to some degree) lots of things that aren't food. For example, I wouldn't want the byproduct (for lack of a better term) of someone's medication winding up directly in my Mix (and thus my food).
I know it's unavoidable to some degree these days, but no need to raise that risk even higher.

I have a similar problem with my spinach, when I torn an affected leaf and found the liquid inside I decided it was leaf miners.

In my garden I have removed all affected leaves, and put them in the trash. I am not sure this will fix the problem.

Mike I too use the dried blood for all foliage vegetables as well as the spinach. I agree with the water damage and sunburn... soon they will be bigger and stronger and ...feeding you Help with spinach problem; disease or overwatering? 311672

It looks like a pretty ceramic red pot....I wander if it has drainage holes in the bottom? I have a matching green one....with no holes.....I think they are made to set another pot in it to look nice......with gravel inserted first.....just a thought.....

It looks like leaf miners to me too, could just be the angle of the pic though.
