Herb garden layout advice
I have a built-in stone planter at the edge of my deck, approximately 4.5' x 2' and about 2.5' off the ground, and it's about 2' from the north side of my 4x4 raised veggie bed. I would like to scoop out the top dirt, fill with 6" of MM and plant a pretty herb garden.
I'm trying to figure out a "decorative" planting plan that will look pretty while utilizing space well for some/all of the herbs I like to use. Those being basil, rosemary, cilantro, parsley, and thyme. This will be in full view from all areas of the deck, so I want it to look visually interesting.
You can get a basic idea what it looks like in this photo:
One slight challenge is the area might begin to be partly shaded in the later afternoon once the tomatoes in the 4x4 raised bed get tall enough.
I'm thinking I'll save the cilantro for its own separate container, plant it in phases and harvest as needed.
Any advice?
Kim

Re: Herb garden layout advice
My herbs did great being partly shaded, better than the ones in full sun. Also, keep in mind which herbs will overwinter in your area so you can space them accordingly.
