My herb garden gets too much sun. I plan to move it to a new SFG with lots of sun in another part of my yard. Should I create that new garden and move potential perennials now or wait until next year and move the newly budding plants that return?

Tricky bit is how to clearing the area of poison ivy. Is that better tackled in the spring? I plan to build raised boxes for this area over weed block, but fear that the poison ivy will find ways to creep out from under and be a hazard. Until now I've never had to deal with this stuff. My first contact resulted in 6 weeks of misery, so I'm a little leery of the area.

If contact has bad results  try to eradicate  .Contact with skin is not the only problem  if you breath in contaminated dust could get lung problems .Herbicide  may be the best option .

I have to agree, there is a product just for poison ivy. I'd spray first, kill off the ivy, then transplant the herbs. I do not know what the label says, whether you can plant soon or wait.

Check around. Maybe you can find someone who is not allergic to help. Gloves, face mask, long pants, even gogles. My DH is allergic, but I am not. Poison ivy is not to be taken lightly!

There are a lot of different plants that if you have an  allergy  to that plant can cause problems .

Thanks, Murarrie,

If I have to use herbicide, then I guess I'll wait until I'm done with this year's gardens, spray everything in November, and start over next Spring. I'm not comfortable spraying herbicide around 10 feet from my SFG.
