I found small, green jumping insects on my broad beans, and I think they must be leafhoppers. Does anyone know how to kill (or repel) them? Would be a shame if they ate all my plants...

Thanks in advance for all your tips anything against leafhoppers, anyone? Icon_smile

Camprn: they look like this: anything against leafhoppers, anyone? 85774673.TA9NzoNf

They're really tiny, and move like grashoppers, you know, jump and than flutter away.

Choksaw, thanks for the links, these are really helpful. It seems they can be repelled with Neem oil, which here in Holland is used as a skincare product (= expensive anything against leafhoppers, anyone? Icon_smile). Don't know if I can get it easily either. For now I'm gonna try a bit of teatree oil, dissolved in water, as I happen to have some in the cupboard. That also repels lice, so maybe it'll do the trick.

I've seen these critters before, I wonder if they eat plants or other insects. Something to investigate later as the weather is lovely aand I'm going out to the garden again. flower

@camprn: they suck the juices out of the leaves, so I guess they're not good for my crops Smile

@chocksaw: the stuff costs about 10 euro per 100 ml overhere, not funny anything against leafhoppers, anyone? Icon_biggrin
I sprayed my beans with teatree oil, and they fled the scene... hope they stay away.
