Seeds:Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree 4/$1.00
Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree have vegetable seeds in stock and they are 4 packages for $1.00. (The advertisement for Ace runs through March 5th)
Dollar Tree has:
Broccoli - DeCicco
Eggplant - Black Beauty
Beans - Tendergreen (bush) and Kentucky Wonder (pole)
Cucumber: Straight Eight & a pickling type
Mesclun mix
Peas - Sugar Baby
Beets
Bunching Onions
Tomato - Roma and Beefsteak
They had a few other vegetables in stock but I distinctly remember the items listed above.
They also have 4 inch plastic pots that are a package of 6 for $1.00 and six packs of drip trays also. I bought a few of the pots and drip trays since they came in very handy last year for potting up tomatoes and I don't seem to buy two liters any more.

Re: Seeds:Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree 4/$1.00
Popped in a Dollar Tree today and they had everything happycamper said, plus I noticed black seeded simpson lettuce.
I can't remember the brand, but the seed packages were marked at $1.39 I think? But the sign said 4/$1, just like happycamper said.
I never have two litre bottles either, and am trying to grow my first homegrown tomato plant this year. I've saved yogurt cups and milk jugs (the square-ish ones from Costco) for up-potting. Hope that's not too big of a transition to go from one to the next?

I have bought "dollar store" seeds for years, but forgot. Thank you for this Dollar Tree reminder altho do you know if they are from Organic non-gmo people?gwennifer wrote:Popped in a Dollar Tree today and they had everything happycamper said, plus I noticed black seeded simpson lettuce.

And too I have a bazillion saved containers (clear 2-liter pop, plus blueberry & tomato ones, etc). - Has anyone sold seed-starts at a yard-sale?

Re: Seeds:Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree 4/$1.00
I went to the local Dollar Tree and sure enough, the lady says that seeds are on sale for $0.25 per packet. Unfortunately they are not in the store, but on the truck in New Jersey. They should be on the shelf by Monday.

LittleGardener,
Great question! The seeds are from a company in Vermont named Meadows Harvest and from what they posted on facebook it appears that they are NON GMO. Here is their website.

I'm so glad you asked LittleGardener, I wondered that but did not want to be a party pooper.

Wait! just a sec. - We're NOT 'party-poopers' simply for wanting to learn... right?Lavender Debs wrote:I'm so glad you asked LittleGardener,

Haha, not for wanting to learn, but for spoiling the joy of frugal gardening because of my fear of Monsanto and Co.
Re: Seeds:Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree 4/$1.00
The dollar stores are my go-to place for seeds.
The volume in the pack might be a little on the light side, but unless you want/need dozens n dozens of plants, there are plenty of seeds in the packs.
They have a limited variety and it's often just a "generic" variety, but that's fine by me (I never knew there were dozens of paste/Roma tomato varieties...and I hardly care ).
I've even had good luck with germinated these dollar store seed packs over several years (talk about getting your money's worth).

Re: Seeds:Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree 4/$1.00
HappyCamper,
Thanks so much for letting us know about the deals at ACE and Dollar Tree. I need to get to my local Dollar Tree soon, because, no matter how many seeds I have, there is always something I need to buy.
Sorry, but I have been gone a few days. When the grandson visits, Nani gets a bit busy and everything else goes by the wayside.

I went this morning...they had no clue of the sale at either store
Ace was having a sale. I think 10% off anything you could place in a brown paper bag?

One of my Dollar Tree stores didn't have many seeds, either. I'm hoping they're on their way.
Dollar General does have seed packs. 3 for $1

I went to the Dollar Tree yesterday, but all they had were tiny Holland flower bulbs, broken with mold on them. - The manager said that their Seed shipment arrives in 3 weeks, and it's 3/1.00 regular price.

This weekend I went to my local Ace hardware store to check out their seeds. They got a lot in but the prices were over $1 per package. I asked the manager if they would have them in for less that $1 anytime soon, but he said not to his knowledge.
I will check the Dollar General store next week. Hope I find some their.....

In years past, I've seen em at Big Lots, Dollar General, Wal-Mart & Dollar Tree. I'm anxious to start my seeds (already started some), but I know there's still time (last frost is mid-April around here).
