plantspacing when "no thinning is necessary"
Hi all,
I want to sow Saltwort (a crunchy leafy thing to stirfry, hadn't heard of it before ), and the package says to "sow in rows 9" apart, no further thinning necessary." So, how does that translate to SFG-measurements? Do you sow two little rows in a square? Or just sprinkle a handfull of seeds around the whole square? What would you do, or does anyone have experience with this crop?
Please advice!
Mirjam

Having never heard of it, I went googling...interesting plant!
You might find growing tips here, although it doesn't answer your question

from johnnysseeds.com
Growing Information:
Saltwort
Days to Germination: 7-14 days.
Sowing Time: Spring, Summer, Fall
Seeding Method: Direct seed or transplant
Light Preference: Sun/Part Shade
Plant Height: 8-18"
Plant Spacing: 2-6"
Hardiness Zones: Annual
Looking at the spacing, I'd try 9-16 per square. It looks like it's easiest to cook with when it's young, so they wouldn't get too big.

Re: plantspacing when "no thinning is necessary"
Thanks Boffer! I guess I could have googled it myself Strange they give different planting directions on different locations though. I'll try 16, and if it gets too crowded, I can harvest half of them as "babyleafs". I'll keep you posted of the results (and the taste )!
