thinning - Rules For Thinning Seedlings ... When? Empty Rules For Thinning Seedlings ... When?

I can't remember, but are there any rules for thinning. For example, do you thin after the first pair of true leaves (2 true leaves) or after 2 pair of true leaves (4 true leaves) I have some cucumbers started indoors and I'm starting to see 1 true leaf, but the original seed leaves (cotyledon) are starting to touch. Thus I may be able to wait for antoher true leaf but not for 3 more true leaves.

I was wondering what do people use as a general rule for when to thin?

Thanks

When there are true leaves, or when neighboring plants leaves start to touch is my rule of thumb. Or when i feel the urge Twisted Evil

With small seeds, I usually thin when there is one strong grower just because of the amount of plants that end up sprouting. Everything else I tend to wait for true leaves.
