Hello from West Central FL
Third season of trying to get things to grow in the Tampa Bay area. Doing a little research and rolled up on this site - lots of great information and new options. Currently trying out two straw bale gardens everything except my cucumbers are looking great (the cucumbers never germinated - my mother says the squirrels love cucumber seeds??
Everything else looks great - I have long beans, super snappy peas, cherry belle radishes, petite n sweet carrots, minowase radishes, jalepeno and green peppers, ceasar romaine lettuce, and broadleaf and round leaf spinach - fingers crossed they'll make it to harvest before I monkey something up - tried my first radish today and very yummy. Before the straw bale gardens I've been having very good luck with my container gardens - mostly herbs, tomatoes, peppers, egg plant and spinach to date. Wish me luck and look forward to the new square foot garden book I have on order.

Nice to have you join our group. So glad to hear you have already ordered your ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book, as it will give you the background info you need to prepare your new SFG. You will find the Mel's Mix is a great medium that allows you to grow healthy veggies with much less work, very little weeding and even less water.
Looking forward to hearing from you and any questions you may have, especially once you have read the book.
Yes, squirrels do like those larger seeds like cucumber. You will find we have discussed protecting our gardens from various pests, large and small. Hope you can take the time to look through some of the older topics and find some solutions that seem logical for your use.
