All about regional seeds
Where to buy: I found packets of seeds 4 for a dollar at the local All-A-Dollar store. Vegetables and flowers as well.
I'm also on the ksl classifieds all the time, and in the Home and Garden section they have a "Seeds and Bulbs" posting area (along with local resources for fertilizer, materials, farmers market info, etc). I bought some berry bushes through there and all of my seeds from a guy down in Utah County. Check the site out if you haven't already: http://sell.ksl.com
What to buy: The seed dealer guy (in the comment above) was selling recommended seed varieties that he had found to work well in this environment. I trusted his judgment and bought what he had listed, but I'm VERY open to what others may have found out through their experience.

A friend also directed me to Mountain valley seed (http://www.mvseeds.com/). They're good to find lots of hard to find stuff from purple beans and purple carrots to dandelion seeds. Just remember, you may plant the dandelions for salads (some people do) but don't let them go to seed. Your neighbors will not like you.

My boys love dandelion pankcakes! Yum! I've also seen them battered and fried. That also looked good.
