I had to stop and think if there was 50 states when we had to memorize states and capitals! (There was, barely)

But I know a lot of states still didn't have interstate highways yet.

Hawaii, believe it or not, has THREE interstate highways surrounding Honolulu alone! H1, H2, and H3.

The answers, since it's Friday....

Dover, DE
Jefferson City, MO
Carson City, NV
Juneau, AK
Pierre, SD

FYI, Pierre, South Dakota is also the ONLY state capitAl with no shared letters between the city name and the state name.

ie, Little Rock, Arkansas, shares an "R." And, Topeka, Kansas, shares a "K." But, Pierre, South Dakota, has no shared letters.

Useless trivia can be a specialty of mine. Embarassed

Yup, me, too. That was a frequent comment while I was researching the question.

The Dwight Eisenhower Interstate System was intended to be used for wartime in case our country was attacked. That said, to be an "interstate highway," you need to hit a few requirements. One such requirement is that one mile out of every five must be straight. This is in case any part of interstate highways need to be used as emergency airstrips. It's a pretty ingenious concept.

Interstate may suggest connecting the states, but it isn't one of the federal requirements to be designated and Interstate Highway. Yes, I originally thought Hawaii was a lock as well.

Another major separater (sp?, Boffer) is how steep the hill grades are along interstates. I didn't look up the actual requirement, but they can't be too steep or they lose their designation and likely become US highways, or even State highways.

Generically me spells prety goot.

I would bet you not only voted for him, but I bet you remember yelling at him to do push ups when he was a private under your command. Crack on the spelling, and I'll resort to silly age comments... Wink
