Tomato plants black stem
Was just out watering my garden and I noticed that at least 3 of my Tomato plants have a dark discoloration on the stem just above ground level. Kinda reminds me of the color I had on the fruit last year when I got blossom end rot at the end of season.
Because it has been so dry here lately I have been watering every day. I check every morning and the ground is dry, so I assume I am not over watering.
Should I be worried about this and if so what can I do?

New to sfg but I see your in Canada so I wonder if this might be it? My
tomatoes were a dark purple when it was cool out during our very late
spring/summer this year. Did you have a cold spell last night?
If you did, they will green back up when the temps are warmer.

Check out this recognizing tomato problems site. <~~~ clickmilton_gardener wrote:

Re: Tomato plants black stem
Thanks for that link and for the comments as well. It looks like it might be Root Rot.
But tonight as I was inspecting my garden, I noticed something else: I have 3 out of my 6 plants that have some fruit on them (been a really slow year with the late summer and now a drought), and on one of them I found a tomato with blossom end rot.
Funny thing is it is my one Big Boy. Last year I planted all Big Beef in that area and they all got BER at the eand of season. I wonder if the plants have the same vulnerability and if the fungus stays in the soil from year to year.
I noticed on that site it said to only plant tomatoes in the same spot every 3 years.
