What proportion should manure be in a compost pile? I have access to goat, rabbit, horse and chicken manure and wanted to see how much I should put in my compost pile. Thanks.

I've never worried about proportions for manure in a compost pile, just piled on as much as I could get. After 30 years of doing that on our old place, the soil was so incredible that I can remember digging 4 feet down and never hitting hardpan. This was in the San Jose area of CA... which is primarily adobe. I think the important thing is to get as much variety as you can.

That's been my experience too, one of many benefits to having a RURAL-home,
is usually lots of various kinds of poop are readily available: prolly Chicken is the best.
