My summer campers spotted this on our cukes, initially we thought a young grass hopper, but looking at the pic I am wondering if it is a young praying mantis...maybe wishful thinking?

Hard to tell..its so small.. It looks like the immature stage of the Leaf-footed bugs around here, except they are a pinkish color on the body with black legs..keep an eye out !! If it is a type of Leaf-footed or Stink Bug it will suck the juice right out of your veggies !!

capatl, I don't know what it is.

Unfortunately, it does not have the stance or the front "arms" of a preying mantis. (sorry:( )

It is difficult to tell from this photo but it doesn't have that wedge shaped head. Check out the photos here at Bug Guide maybe you can ID it. Very Happy
