I'm leaving home on 10 June and will not be back until mid Sep. I want to increase the amount of homemade compost while I'm gone. I have an open pallet bin lined with cardboard with some leaves and half a bale of straw that is just getting started. Been adding green to it as I weed the flowerbeds and tried to get some of the cut grass. It has some earthworms. I also have 2 garbage can bins about 1/3 full of about 3/4 completed compost, one with earthworms in it. Kitchen scraps have been going here. I saved 2 garbage bags full of leaves from last fall and will be collecting everything green I can over the next 3 weeks before I leave. What would be my best option? a. leaves and green in the cans, b. leaves and greens in the pallet c. dump the cans into the pallet, add leaves and greens and mix all of it together

Kay

And one!

Composting is like crockpotting. Set it and forget it. Stir every once in awhile, but it just doesn't need much fuss.....other than time.

I tend to agree.
Of course, some folks do like to break out the pressure cooker every once in a while. Very Happy

Regarding OP. Maybe, just maybe, I'd throw in some more greens so it cooks all summer for you. I'm on a Starbucks coffee ground kick right now and really like the way that stuff has recharged my pile (the grounds really seem to work their way into all those nooks n crannies and don't seem to clump up the way grass clippings do, either).
