Here's mine

This is my first year garden in sunny central California: two L shaped boxes, 8" deep filled 6", 3' wide and 12' and 5' long. You can see at the top of the farthest box, a black strip. It is carbide sandpaper to prevent slugs and snails from climbing in. Seems to work! The center box is 4'x6' and is 16" deep for deep root crops. Yes, I need to fill the center box with more mix. The grids are going to be made from white plastic window blinds. I found that if you place them in vertically, they don't take up 1-2 inches of grid space. One can be seen in the closest L box. The redwood is reused from a premium redwood swing and play structure for the kids. The roof can be seen against the fence and it will be reused for a new chicken coop: Chicken Manure!

Is that a ladder or monkey bars from the play set laying there? Sure looks like a future lattice to me!

I don't know why that solution did not just jump up and beat us all in the face. One of the biggest complaints about grids is that they take up so much room.

Great layout and re-use of materials! Love the idea of laying the vertical blind on edge also. Looking forward to seeing a bountiful harvest!

I haven't thought of using them that way either. Will they have to be notched at the intersections? Ala the old metal ice cube trays?

Why not have a portable grid you can take off when it's just in the way?

Nice design, I'm planning on a similar shape with a bed on the long side and space for a seat. I'm not sure how well slugs can slime along upside down but I think I will be nicking the rough sandpaper idea and sticking it under a lip.

I love your layout and use of re-purposed materials! I have my blinds set up the way you're doing, but I'm going to have to borrow your sandpaper idea. Excellent work!

That looks great! I love your grid idea. We'll be using the sandpaper tip! My husband has been trying to figure out how to keep the slugs from climbing up into the garden.
