Bug ID please

I have some kind of small bug swarming the ground out by the goats & the garden. At first I thought they were small black ants but on closer look they are not. They are fast little buggers, don't seem to fly and while as of tonight they are in my squash bed and in the soil around my cantalopes which are not in a SFG bed but do not seem to be bothering the plants so far.

They are all over a large area, covering around 500 sf.

The pictures are not the best. The 1st one shows them in a vial of alcohol between rulers(mm on the top, inches on the bottom) for size, then I poured a couple out for seperate pictures.

Any ideas what they are and what to do about them? I poured cinnamin around the beds tonight.
