mulberries

My next-door-neighbor has a mulberry tree in her back yard. They make a tremendous mess, but the birds and squirrels sure do love 'em. Has anyone ever made anything with mulberries?

We have a mulberry tree. I used to eat them when I was a kid, but they often have little worms in them, so if you use them, pick over them carefully! I always leave ours for the birds, now, because we grow other berries that I like better.

Never had one with a worm in it. I've eaten all my life. . .but a couple of years ago
some one made us some mulberry jelly. I can't imagine how many mulberry's it took to make that pint of jelly. I was good though.

Since no one has said "Mulberries - gross!" to me, I believe I will collect them this year and see if I can do something with them. It looks as if the tree was trimmed, so it might not be as easy as I was thinking. Then again, perhaps it will be safe to walk down the street without getting purple feet this year. =) I'll keep you posted.
