And, here is what things are looking like. I'm pleased so far considering the slow as molasses start to spring around here....

Over half my squares planted and coming in nicely...

First time with Cauliflower...

My pride and joy....Spinach (Baby's Leaf is an amazing variety so far)

I wanted to try Buttercrunch, too. I still think you can't beat Simpson's Elite for easy, but this stuff tastes great! Behind the lettuce, you see my Radishes starting to get moving...

Whooduhthunk I would be harvesting salads just a couple days after my frost date?! That makes the hoophouse, and all that experimentation, a success. Wheeeeeeee!

What a wonderful garden. I'm sure you are praising the hoop house to high heaven.
There's nothing like FRESH foodstuff from your own garden.
Congratulations.

PS. I love the buttercrunch as well. Its so crispy.

Those radishes have just popped their "true" leaves. I planted them back on March 18....three weeks ago. They are only 3-4 week veggies, right?

I have never seen anything BARELY get it's true leaves and be ready for harvest so soon. I know they are quickies, but wow, that borders on the ridiculous.

How many leaves should I be looking for? I don't want them to get pithy, but I don't want to waste them by checking, either. Then again, it's not like I can't just plant more.......lol.....it's not like they are slow to harvest.

I'll stick my neck out here: my radishes grow mostly on top of the soil. They look like they're sitting on the MM with maybe ¼ 'under ground'. I grow plain jane run of the mill radishes.

How the heck do you do that? Do you just sprinkle the seeds on the ground like lettuce?

LOL I didn't know they grew any other way! That's why I tried to qualify: "in my experience"! You know me...I stick seeds in the ground...sometimes they grow...sometimes they don't! I don't get too concerned with the details, sorry.

BBG, when the radishes start to bulb up, a portion of the bulb bulges above the soil line. Judge the size of your radishes from what you can see.

I plant my radishes about 1/4 inch deep. If you don't see any part of the bulb, it's probably not big enough.

Anytime, mamma. Just jump in that Penske truck and turn your frost date back into April. I know several nice houses for sale in the area? LOL. The hoops are great. Things do grow slow, but at least they are growing.

Thanks, FM, for the help. I fall somewhere between some of you guys and Boffer with the planning. I default to his way, but my anal-retentiveness (for lack of a better word) forces me to plan more. I'm like a lazy OCD if that makes any sense. You talk about a pickle of a personality! It's a constant inner struggle. Get busy, take a break. Get busy, take a break. It can drive my wife up the friggin' wall!
