composite deck boards for box?
I lucked out today and landed a few pieces of 'Trex' composite deck boards for free. We're trying to be very careful about the materials we use. Would it be safe to make SFG boxes out of this? Just want to be sure nothing nasty would leech into the MM.
BTW, I love this forum. Everyone is so helpful! Perhaps some day I'll be able to help someone else and return the favor!

Re: composite deck boards for box?
I managed to find enough scraps to make one box from Trex. There have been other members who use it, too. Many of the box kits that are sold are made from composite wood.
Is it safe? That has to be your call. I have not heard that it's not.
GREAT SCORE by the way! Trex isn't cheap.

Re: composite deck boards for box?
My boxes are composite & are holding up great (I'm on second year with them).
As far as leaching goes ......haven't run across any news, rumors or scientific data to that effect.
The fact that your getting it free is even better......that stuff isnt cheap.
